[/i]. In reality, the fire never grew wildly out of control but the young tom knew nothing of this and thought he was invincible.

Fawnpaw took up bragging rights for surviving the fire. Although he never confessed it, he felt as if StarClan personally saved him. One could say this is where his sense of entitlement comes from--feeling as if he has a bigger purpose.

As he grew into a warrior, Fawnstride became very enthusiastic with leading border patrols and hunting parties. On occasion, even if the tomcat wasn't in charge he would take over. If the "leader" of the expedition would protest against the sudden change of command they would receive a nasty back remark, which was usually enough to have them back off.
