Larkpaw strides in silent circles around the giant, flowing tree called the Ancient Willow. A small smile brushes her maw as one of it's long branches rubs against her. The creamy apprentice has always liked this particular tree. It make her feel safe, and gave her shade from the beating sun. Her blue gaze turned to glance around for her mentor, the silver flecks in her eyes glinting brightly when the light hits them just so. Mothstar said the would be doing training today, though he hadn't mentioned what kind. All he said was to meet him here at dawn.
And she had arrived early. She woke before the sun came up, and decided it would be better to just go now instead of trying to sleep again, because she would probably sleep through the training. And Mothstar wouldn't be happy with her if she did so. Opening her jaws, Larkpaw sucked in a breath. The earthy scent of the willow spread on her tongue and filled her nostrils. She let her shoulders relax. He would be here soon, that she was sure of.

Mothstar The broad shouldered tom trotted through the forest, making his way to the Ancient Willow. It was a place of memories for him, this having been a place he and his brother had trained side-by-side. It was also the place all other Earthclan warriors had trained before him. And now, it was a place where he had the great opportunity to train his clan's future members. Larkpaw, in this particular moment, but it had been Burrstride before. As he neared the ancient training grounds, the tom saw the small form of Larkpaw. The male let out a chuckle as he came under the willow's gracious shade. He had been wondering if she would be here early, seeing he hadn't caught site of the mid-aged apprentice when in camp. The whole time Mothstar had been eating his meal of two mice, the tom-cat had been keeping one eye up for his apprentice, but not once did even a hair of her's appear. The cream tabby had even popped his head into the apprentices den, only to find her scent was stale. Letting his brisk pace falter to a simple walk, Mothstar padded up to Larkpaw with a gentle smile. He swished his tail in greeting and inhaled refreshingly. Once coming to a full stop, the leader mewed, "Well, how long have you been out here? I hope I haven't kept you waiting, my dear."

She had let herself rest by sitting down after a while of circling the flowing tree. Larkpaw allowed her eyes to close and turned her focus to her other senses. She let the sound of morning bird calls echo in her ears and the feel of the damp grass prickle between her toes. The smell of earth and--
Oh. And the scent of her mentor, which got stronger and stronger by the second. Blinking open her eyes, she looked over her shoulder, only to see the broad, creamy shoulders of Mothstar trotting quietly toward her. Larkpaw rose and dipped her head in a greeting, before she put on a dazzling smile. "Ah, not that long. I couldn't go back to sleep, so I decided I'd just wait out here. It's very peaceful," she adds. A small laugh escaped her jaws. "No worries, Mothstar." Her eyes brightened and gleamed with curiosity. "So, what are we doing today?" Larkpaw questioned, kneading her paws excitedly into the ground. Whatever it was, the cream apprentice knew it was going to be fun.

Mothstar let out a content huff, much like a chuckle, as he sat by Larkpaw's side. It was a decent morning, one that would make for good training if all else went well. And he was quite confident things would.
Curling his tail to meet his paws, the tom-cat opened his maw to speak, "I want to go over you knowledge of hunting again. Make sure that you're at the level of skill you need to be." He gave the young she-cat a gentle smile before continuing, "You're nearing your first assessment, and I would like you to pass it easily. Think you can manage?" the creamed tabby male asked, flicking his apprentice over the nose with the tip of his slightly dusted tail.

Oh, dear, I'm sorry. I totally missed your post! We can continue if you'd like.
Larkpaw's silvery blue gaze searched her mentor's face while he spoke. Mothstar's cream fur blended well into the earthy tones of their surroundings. The willow tree's long, flowy limbs brush against her face, bringing her back to what he was saying. She nodded quickly.
"Of course I can."
She grinned excitedly at the mention of her final assessment coming up. Oh, how she was ready. At first, the creamy pointed she-cat had thought that six moons was going to be an eternity. But in reality, it had passed too quickly. It seemed as though just yesterday Mothstar had taken her on her first tour of the territory. She'd been buzzing with excitement then. Now, she was sitting peacefully with him, talking of final assessments. Oh, StarClan. She blinked before searching the treelines for any possibly prey. A bird, sitting obliviously on a lower branch. Larkpaw nodded at the bird, before looking to her mentor for acceptance.

Oh, it's perfectly fine. Sorry you hadn't noticed it. I was just simply asking. I know people have been busy and I'm trying to keep track of the active threads. cx

Mothstar's smile spread slightly wider at her words of confidence and her broad grin before settling back to normality. She was a confident and bright, young she-cat who knew what it took to do well. She would make a good warrior, one with a kind, eager heart and who knew the Code.
The leader had been expecting the apprentice to ask what she should do, but when Larkpaw pin-pointed the nearby bird Mothstar was impressed. His ears twitched lightly, but no more. He didn't want to cause the she-cat to feel over-confident and jeopardize her kill. With a nod of his head, the tom blinked in acceptance to her request. With the bird on such a low branch, the broad-shouldered male was confident Larkpaw would make this hunt successful. He just hoped that he might be able to pass on anything that might ever be helpful to the skilled young-one.
Curling his creamed tail over his paws, Mothstar sat in wait of her first move. What technique would she chose? And would she remember the wind?
